A Note of Appreciation
Thank you to our family and friends who contributed toward making OurLookingGlass Web Site a timeless adventure for future family generations!
Thank you Roxanne Dawn (Hapeman) Wallace: In December 2007, “Roxy” (residing in Indiana) wanting to locate her Hapeman cousins took a chance by mailing a Christmas card to an address in South Carolina. This was the beginning of correspondence among three Hapeman families who had known each other as children, but lost contact for over fifty years. That card sparked seven adults into sharing happy as well as sad family memories. The seven cousins' enthusiasm developed into exchanging family information, keeping in touch, traveling long distances to visit and reaching out to other family members, their children and grandchildren. (The Original Seven: Roxy, Roz, Brenda, Stan, Jeanette, Linda and Jon) children of Hapeman brothers: Stanley Ellsworth Hapeman, Harry Burnett Hapeman and Elmer William Peter Hapeman.
We also will continue to recognize, appreciate, and thank people as OurLookingGlass (OLG) grows:
Pam Barich (NYS & FL) and Peter Hru (IL): In 1970 Dodd and Hapeman ancestral information was collected by Hazel Henrietta Ester (Sternberg) Hrusovsky (b.1919) and her sister Audrey Celia (Sternberg) (Melley) Barich (1920-2001). They contacted the Rev. Clement H. Bloomfield, O.S.B., Saint Mary's Abbey, Morristown, New Jersey who obtained records from the Genealogical Society of New Jersey and the Rutgers University Library in New Brunswick. This original research study was provided to OLG Web Site by (our cousins) Pamela Linda Barich and Peter Charles (Hrusovsky) Hru, children of Audry Barich and Hazel Hrusovsky.
Linda Jean (Hapeman) Knoll (NYS) and our mother Florence Pauline (Rasmussen) Hapeman (1915-2000): Linda and mom, known to us as “Beauma” preserved the first Hapeman-Rasmussen family records in picture albums. Their family record-keeping greatly contributed to the OLG site. Beauma also traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark, in the early 1980's visiting her Danish family for the first time. As a gift to her we have (her father), Niels Christian Valdemar Rasmussen's family ancestral records.
Inge Lise (Sondergaard) Olesen (Denmark): Inge is contributing with family pictures in the Danish Family Album as well as updating relatives' names on the OLG site. Our Danish relative families include names: Rasmussen, Nielsen, Jorgensen, Halse-Svendsen, Olesen, and Sondergaard.
Christine (Hapeman) Moore (SD): We are grateful to Christine who contacted us and identified herself as sharing the Hapeman lineage. Seems she is a 5th cousin. She also has shared Hapeman Ancestral Research from the 1700's citing Johannes Hapeman (1738-1800) as ancestor to both of us, as well as to many other Hapeman families of the Red Hook/Rhinebeck area in Upstate New York.
Jon Frederick Hapeman (NYS) saw the value in organizing and preserving these records for future generations. Jon is the owner and creator of the OurLookingGlass Web Site.
Jon's son, Jon George Hapeman (CA) owner of “allconnectedconsulting.com” has been involved with OurLookingGlass Web Site from its creation. He also has promised to be the next generation person continuing the OurLookingGlass Adventure.
Thanks also to the following family members and friends not mentioned above: Barbara Irene Heckle; Edith Marjorie Krauss; Christopher D. and James C. Melley; JoAnn Leavy; Lilyan Johnson; Kathleen Tripp and Janet (Hapeman) Hull.
Jeanette Alice-Marie (Hapeman) Tripp (SC) is a sister to Jon Frederick Hapeman and for the last two years has become her brother's typing servant. Thanks to Jon's patience and teaching I also have become acquainted with, and entered the fascinating world of computers and Internet access.
